Reasons To Own Insurance

In yesterday’s post I talked about the Types Of Insurance You Really Need These are the main types of insurances I believe you need come heck or high water  (as my grandmother used to say).  Those included:   Auto Insurance, Health Insurance, Disability Insurance, Long-Term Care Insurance and Home Owners or Renters Insurance.  There are other types of insurances however, these are the ones I believe to be most important.

Now, I have to admit, that I am the last one who wants to spend  money on things I am not going to use.  So, buying insurance is kind of like booking a flight for a trip you may never take and you hope you never need to go on.  This explains why we tend to procrastinate and hem and haw about buying it.

But you know what?   What if?  That’s what you always have to be thinking in the back of your mind.  What if the unforeseen shows up on our doorstep tomorrow?  What will you do then?  Go back.  Can’t do that.  Do you or I really want to take that risk and not be prepared and potentially wipe out everything we’ve worked so hard for?  Of course you don’t.  So, I am recommending that you seriously consider properly insuring yourself.

We have to be real and understand that life has a way of catching the best of us off guard with it’s twists, turns and surprises.  And, whether that is in the form of an unforeseen medical emergency a serious car accident or our home being exposed to one of mother nature’s mood swings, we’ve got to be prepared.  When we’re not, we have to do things like dip into our 401(k) plans and pay a huge penalty for doing so.

Think about all your possessions and put a number in it.  How hard have you worked for those things?  I’m guessing you’ve worked hard up to this point and it is crucial  that you don’t let one of these events wipe you out suddenly.  A few of you are saying: “It’s only money.”  NONSENSE.  That’s like that other saying: “Everything happens for a reason”    Our decisions and actions are the reasons things happen.  And believe me, life is easier when you have your Ass(ets) protected.  And when you don’t make decisions or take certain actions, those things happen for a reason too.  So, don’t lean on that saying for too long.

You may be thinking to yourself, that you’ll beat the odds and go without insurance.  And you just might.  But is that a chance you really want to take?   I will submit to you that when you run your life in a way that leaves little to chance, meaning you take responsibility for yourself and do things in a certain way (Self Respect) that the things that happen to you and the things and circumstances you attract will be much more desirable.

I am not saying that you have to buy insure to be successful or have self – respect.  But I am saying that doing things that protect you and put a safe guard around your financial life will bring you peace of mind and protect your assets.
