You’re probably saying: “You already covered this when you told me to stop using my credit cards.” Well, I did but…………….if you really want to get out of debt, this is a step you will have to take.
Hey, you knew it would come to this. This is something you need to do right now. Go over and open up your wallet or purse and take em out and chop chop! You can keep 1 card for an emergency. (“But I thought you said all of em…”) Well, I did but until you establish an emergency fund, you need to keep one card open for emergencies. Note: The Macy’s card is not an emergency. I am talking about a broken leg, car accident or a real emergency that is literally life threatening or about your safety.
I love analogies. So let me explain this simple personal finance tip with an analogy: Just like the overweight person who goes on a healthy diet and takes all the twinkies and Rocky Road Ice Cream out of the house, cutting up your credit cards up will remove your temptation to spend money on “stupid stuff.”
“There are dreamers and there are planners. The planners make their dreams come true.” Edwin Louis Cole
