20 Ways To Cut Your Expenses, Part 2 (the next 10)

This post is the second half of yesterday’s posts 20 Ways To Cut Your Expenses This is part 2 (the next 10)   So, feel free to share your ideas of how to save money and cut expenses.

11. Cancel Your Gym Membership and workout at home.  Staying in shape is always a good idea and forms the basis for other things.  However, if you aren’t using your gym membership at least once or twice a week, cancel it.

12. Only use ATM’s where you won’t be charged a service fee.

13. Send Free E-Cards and save on postage and the cost of the card.

14. Drop your land line and use only your cell or mobile phone service.

15.  Keep up the maintenance on your car as this will surely save you money in the long run.

16. Look for deals when shopping for clothes and other items. Try looking on Shop Local before you head out shopping.  A note of caution is to make sure you don’t just buy more stuff because it’s on sale.   But for things you already know you need, this is a good source to locate the lowest cost store/vendor.

17. Wash your car at home. After you’ve canceled the gym membership, this is one way to be sure you get more exercise.

18.  Get multiple quotes on insurance policies. It pays to shop around when buying insurance, especially for your life, health and auto insurance rates.

19. Consider carpooling to work with your spouse. This one may be a stretch but if you and your spouse work close enough to one another, this might work.  You could even find a way where you eventually drop one car and save on an entire car payment.

20. Check out Lower My Bills to make sure you are receiving the lowest cost service providers for your cell phone, gas, etc.
I realize that some of these tips may not be useful for your personal situation however; if you can find just 2 or 3 that work for you, they can really add up over time.  And, that’s what you are trying to do here; build better and more productive habits with money so that you simplify your life and get rid of unnecessary stress.

Remember the big picture is for you to get out of debt, save more money and ultimately live the lifestyle of your dreams!

“Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of knowing you did your best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.”  John Wooden

Besides dropping your landline to cut costs I highly recommend changing from a cell phone contract to using a prepaid cell phone ‘Straight Talk’ package from WalMart.
    The 2 super packages are:
$30 per month for 1000 any time/any where minutes & 1000 text messages,
    and
$45 for unlimited calls and text. You save at least $1200 over a period of 2 years using this prepaid package instead of a cell phone contract. It was therefore even beneficial to pay the cancellation fee against my old contract.

Serena, I hadn’t given much thought to prepaid cell service but those are good rates. Do you know if you can port numbers with pre-paid @ Straight Talk? Not having a contract is the way to go. Mike
